Back to school and new beginnings...

Well... it's time to play catch up I guess! School is back in session.. I officially have a 2nd grader and a pre-schooler. Stetson is loving 2nd grade. He has a great teacher and the child LOVES extended day! Jackson is.. well.. Jackson!:) He doesn't quite grasp the concept that he has to finish preschool before he can go to Kindergarten and that he HAS to be 5 before he can go! Just because he can write his name, say his ABC's and count his "numb-uhs" doesn't mean he can go any sooner! However, I am pretty sure that once he gets there he will pitch a fit, kick and scream and get his butt tore up be fine!

I have had booked sessions the past 2 week ends. It is so muh fun doing something you love to do! Last weekend, I had 4 in one day! It was busy busy but I LOVED it!
Here are just a few shots from the 488+ I took last weekend:

Today, I had the pleasure to photograph the child of a fellow classmate of mine. His dad, Marcus, and I graduated together and his mom,Anna, and I grew up together. She actually sang at our wedding! Mr. Brock was very photogenic and I enjoyed our session this morning! Here are a few from his shoot this morning.. They are all so cute, it's hard for me to pick which ones I want to share. I did post the complete album on facebook.

And here's one last pic for you all to enjoy...maybe you all enjoyed the pics as much as he enjoyed this lollipop! :)

Back to School Blues...

This weekend we decided to tackle the task of back to school shopping. We got up early Saturday morning and decided to head down to Destin. Stetson is scheduled to have a tonsillectomy this Friday (30th), so I knew if I was going to get it started finished, I would have to do it all this weekend. I figured he wouldn't be up for a trip to the mall the day after his surgery. I spent toooo much money found some really great deals while we were there! Other than a few last minute things, I think we are ready for 2nd grade! We are really anxious to find out who our teacher is going to be. Stetson said it pretty much doesn't matter to him because "they are all great."

I have a feeling this week is going to be chaos! I worked late tonight trying to get stuff caught up and squared away in order for me to be off with Stetson to have his surgery. Our children's church pool party is Thursday night and Stetson is excited about that! He was afraid that he wasn't going to be able to go. So, I guess we will have one last pool trip of the summer! We have to be at the hospital at 0630 Friday morning to register and we were told that he would probably be the first case since he was the youngest so far on the schedule. Be sure to say a prayer for him...and me! I think I am more worried about it than he is. I'm afraid that he is still gonna be feeling bad the day school starts or problems with bleeding..or not being able to eat.. etc.. His only concern was "awww man... I can't eat mexican!" I assured him that he could have all the ice cream and jello and pudding he wanted! That seemed to satisfy him! Like I said, please say a prayer for a speedy recovery and that we are feeling better before the first day of school!

I wanted to end this post with a few pictures I took from this weekend. You can't go to Destin without going out on the beach...according to my rugrats anyway! I had fun playing with my new camera! I LOVE it!! I love taking pictures and when we found this deal, it was toooo hard for Stephen to tell me NO to pass up! Let me know what you think! ENJOY!

I have NO idea what he is doing here.. but he's handsome anyway!

My sweet Jackson
I am sooo gonna have my hands full with this one when he gets older. He is gonna steal many hearts!

I already have my hands full with this one!

So... I'm loving my new camera! :) Your thoughts?

8 years ago today...I married my friend!

Posted by Picasa

Isn't it amazing how time flies? 8 years ago today, Stephen and I said "I do". We started a life together...taking it one day at a time. So many memories from that day and the days prior. I was in nursing school when we got married. We picked the WORST possible timing on that one! ha I had clinicals on Wednesday and Thursday of that week. I had a teaching project that I had to present on that Thursday and a case study and careplans due on that following Monday. Throw in a last minute nail appointment because you know those aren't allowed in nursing school and needless to say, I was stressed to the max! Thankfully, it all worked out and here we are 8 years later. Rehersal went well that Friday night despite a few "minor" problems! Brandon, one of our ushers, ended up going to the wrong church and my wonderful brother-in-law didn't need to practice his song. He had it "under control". Uhh.. YEAH! :) It seemed like we stayed at the church forever that night, making sure that last minute details were complete and everything was squared away. I said good night to Stephen and I went home to my mom's house. Malloree, my best friend and maid of honor, stayed the night with me at my moms house and we stayed awake until the wee-hours of the morning eating Rocky Road icecream talking and laughing. I think we ate that entire half-gallon on ice cream that night which is NOT advised when you are supposed to fit into a wedding gown that next day!

That next morning, we woke up and the race was on! We had to get an early start since we had hair appointments for me, 2 flower girls and 6 bridesmaids. I remember I ate a sausage biscuit while I was getting my hair done. I think that and some fruit was all I ate until later that night. I got to the church around noon that day. I was anxiously awaitng my aunts arrival from Atlanta. She had baked my wedding cake and was transporting it from her home in Atlanta and of course, I was terrified that something would happen and it would not make it in time for the 4:00 ceremony. Thankfully, she and the cake made it all safely. To this day, I still don't know WHY I felt that I needed a cake THIS large.

Anyway, pictures were made...Stephen and I managed to avoid each other during this time. It wasn't easy, but we did it! I am so thankful that I didn't know what all went on before I made it into the church until after the wedding was over! Remember Phillip? I mentioned him earlier.. he was my soon to be brother-in-law that was supposed to sing "A Parent's Prayer" during the seating of the parents and grandparents. Remember, he was the one who "didn't need" to practice...yeah, about that, he forgot part of the beginning of the song! ha

All the bridesmaids decided they were going to be cute and put jewels on their foreheads...all of them made it out the room without me noticing except Malloree. I saw hers and she took it off right before she walked out. My "little sister" Morgan RIPPED her dress walking up on stage. It was VERY LOUD and even louder on the video.

My daddy walked me up the aisle to Stephen and I think with every step I took, I told him "I'm gonna throw up.." Thankfully, that didnt happen!

Our friend Anna sang "When you walked into my life" by Lila McCann. My friend Sarah served as our pianist. My uncle prayed over us and our marriage and Stephen's pastor Bro Danny did the actual sermon that lasted FOREVER ceremony and vows. We lit the unity candle while Steven Curtis Chapman sang "I will be here". Stephen, bless his heart, burned his finger with the unity candle! It was rather funny to me. Shortly after, we were presented for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Adcock and we exited the church. Once again, our crazy friends wedding party thought they would be cute...and thankfully, I had no idea until after the wedding. As we were presented and were exiting the church, all the groomsmen pulled up their trouser legs and revealed that they all PURPOSELY wore WHITE SOCKS!! The reason for this being that one of the last things I told them the night before was "make sure you pack your black socks!" What a bunch of goobers! We headed out to a feast in our fellowship hall.First we cut cake... Then we had punch... Then we had more cake... Then I was kidnapped by members of my bridal party! Stephen was given a ransom note and had to beg collect a ransom to get me back! This in itself was an adventure! Imagine getting 6 girls, still in their bridesmaid dresses and me in my gown into my mother-in-laws BUS van with my sister in law driving in the rain on unfamilar roads...ahh.. Memories! Well, he collected his ransom and they brought me back safe and we said our thank you's to everyone for coming to help us celebrate and we made our way to our get-away car. Right about this point is when I took a deep breath and checked out went WOW! My car had been decorated with saran wrap and paint markers and even my tires had been removed and my car was up on cement blocks! Yes, this really happened! Anyway, the tires got put back on and we ended up driving away in the rain, headed to the beach!

I guess we took the scripture to heart that was read over us...Genesis 1:28 "God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number" because 11 months later, we welcomed this little guy into the world...

Who has now become this handsome heartbreaker
Then 3 years later, we welcome this little guy into the world

Who has now become this sweet little guy

Sorry for the long post.. just wanted to share some pictures and memories with you guys! Everything turned out beautiful and we were surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was a beautiful day despite the brewing hurricane winds and downpour small drizzle of rain.
8 years ago, I married my best friend; the one I laugh with, live for and love. I am thankful for him and I pray God continues to bless our marriage and 8 becomes 80.

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,
“This at last is bone of my bonesand flesh of my flesh;she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Suprise!

Suprises.... I don't like em! I never have.. probably never will! On Friday, Stephen sent me a text asking me if I would be leaving work early or if we would be working until regular time. This summer has been slow so Dr. Bang has been letting us slip out a little early on Friday's. For some reason, this Friday was different, he wanted us to stay until 5, or so he said. Anyway, I told Stephen that we wouldn't be leaving early and he told me ok, but not to make any plans. Ooooookay.. I asked him to elaborate, but he told me he couldn't, but he just didn't want me to make any plans. I eventually pestered him enough until he told me he had dinner plans for us. Ok.. no biggie...but what about the boys? He then informed me he had them "taken care of." By whom I asked, and he wouldnt budge anything... needless to say, I was getting rather frustrated at this point and he knew it! :) He ended up revealing to me that they were gonna be with Nanny and Grandaddy and that eased my mind some. No biggie, right?!?

Anyway, around 4:00, Dr. Bang gave us a project to do and then said when we finished, we could leave at 4:30. So all 4 of us got busy, worked together and finished out project and before we knew it, it was 4:30 and we were finished. We locked up the front door, turned the answering machine on and gathered our keys and I made my way out the back door. As i'm walking out to my car, I BBM (blackberry messenger) Stephen with this simple statement: "leavin now". I get no response from Stephen so I get in my car and head to 84 headed home. Right as I turn on 84, I get a text that says "WAIT".. WAIT?!? I'm already headed home.. I get home, go inside and no sooner than I have been home MAYBE 5 minutes, the front door opens and Stephen (who is NOT wearing the same clothes he wore to work) comes inside and hands me a single red rose and a typed letter that stated:
Heather: This is a very special invitation for you to join me for a very romantic evening. Plans have been made and everything has been set. This will be an evening dedicated to celebrating out upcoming 8th wedding anniversary. The boys are packed and ready to stay with Nanny and Grandaddy. Everything has been set and all that's left for now is a quick trip home to freshen up, and maybe even pack an overnight bag. I love you very much and I've gone through quite a bit to plan this evening and keep it a suprise up to this point. I love you, Stephen

Come to find out, the reason for the "WAIT" was because he was at the florist in Opp, getting the rose.. he was on his way to suprise me with it and the invitation at work! He had left his phone in his car and didn't get my message in enough time! So... he ended up getting the message about 2 minutes AFTER I had left work! Isn't that sweet!! NEverthe less, it all worked out! He had dinner planned for us and even reserved us a night at a Bed and Breakfast which was WONDERFUL! I was very suprised and very much impressed that he had everything so well planned out, even to packing the boys overnight bags! :)
We will celebrate 8 years of marriage this upcoming Tuesday the 20th. We have been blessed! It hasnt always been easy, but we've made it! I guess it's true, some of God's greatest gifts, are unanswered prayers! :)
More pictures to come next week as we celebrate! :)

Monday, July 12, 2010

Well, it's Monday. It's been a Monday ALL day long! Jackson started swimming lessons today and he informed me that he could "touch da bottom of dat poo-ul" without his "froatie!" :) That kid makes me smile daily! When I got home from work this afternoon, he and Stetson were already back in the pool showing off their skills! Stetson took swimming lessons last summer and was swimming like a fish on the second day. Jackson was terrified of the water last year so I was afraid at what this week might hold. Thankfully, I was told (by my mother in law who is taking him AND by big brother who thought he had to take on the supervisor role) that he (Jackson) did great! That was definetly an answer to prayer.

This weekend has been a lazy weekend for us. We pretty much stayed home and did a whole lot of NOTHING and it felt great! It seems that here lately it's been go go go and to have nowhere that we HAD to be, it was wonderful to say the least! We did manage to make a quick trip to Wal*Mart and pick up a school supply list. That makes me kind of sad...my sweet man is going to 2nd grade--which means he is growing up on me! We were talking the other night about who he thought his teacher might be and he informed me that "any of them will be ok cause they are all good!"

Isn't he so handsome! :)

On another note, ZC still has another year to prepare for Hurricane Jackson! :) I can only hope that next year he will be out of the whole "I wanna be a superhero and wear my costume to school over my clothes everyday of the week" stage. He did let his Spiderman and Superman costumes rest last week.He was IronMan instead! he has such a vivid imagination and he is SO funny! There is never a dull moment around our house for sure and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I guess I will finish this post up by posting a few things the boys have said over the past few days...you may not enjoy them, however, I want to be able to remember them and smile.

Stephen: Jackson come here buddy, you have a bite on your back. Come here and let me see what it is.
Jackson: But I can't see it. (starts pouting) Dad, can Jesus take my head off so I can dat bump and then he can tape it back on when i'm finish?!

Seriously!?! How do you respond to THAT?!

While we were watching the Braves vs Mets game the other night
Me to Stephen: Hey, isnt that Jeff Francouer? I thought he played with the Braves
Stephen: Yeah, they traded him last year
Stetson: I guess they just didn't appreciate him huh!

Hope you all have a wonderful week! :)

Birthdays and Babies

Wow! I didn't realize that it had been so long since my last post. Lots of stuff has happened since then. Jackson, Stetson and I have all 3 celebrated birthdays this month! :) Jackson turned 4 on June 2... we celebrated with a "Scooby Doo" birthday party at the park! I celebrated my 27th birthday at VBS! ha.. we just so happened to be in VBS the week of my birthday so, my sweet husband threw me a suprise party after the session on Tuesday night! My wonderful church family was in on it and they pulled one over on me which is VERY hard to do! I guess since I was born DURING VBS way back when, it's only fitting that my birthday fall on VBS week every year...and YES, I am reminded EACH year by my brother that the year I was born was the only year he did not get perfect attendance at bible school! :) Stetson celebrated his 7th birthday in Atlanta this year. He didn't get to make all-stars because of the 7 yr age limit ( tournaments started the 25th, he turned 7 on the 27th! )soooo... we spent the weekend in Atlanta! We went up on Friday after I got off work, went to the Aquarium and the World of Coke on Saturday...both of those were an all day affair. Sunday morning, (his actual birthday), we went to see the Braves vs. Detroit. They lost! Stetson was happy nonetheless...he got several autographs on a baseball AND Eric O'Flaherty (pitcher) threw him a ball during practice and he caught it! If all this wasn't enough, he even got to run the bases after the game! "The same bases that Chipper runs on", he said. My neice, Heidi, went with us. They had a great time... they are 2 peas in a pod and always have been. I was very happy to get back home to my Jackson! I missed him oh so much and per his Nanny, he missed me too!
My babies celebrating birthdays is kinda sad to me... they re growing up! I remember the days they were born in great detail, just as if it were yesterday! Thank you God for these precious blessings and please help me never to take a moment with them for granted!

Momma said there'd be days like these...

*SIGH* Today is one of those kinda days.. This whole week has been an emotonal rollercoaster and I'm ready for the ride to stop or slow down.. Jackson started not feeling well on Saturday and when he climbed up in my lap Sunday night at church and fell asleep, I KNEW something was wrong! Sure enough, by the time church was over and we went home, his temp was over 103! SOO.. We loaded up, drove to Opp to the clinic and I checked him for flu and strep, both of which were negative, looked in his ears and then went back home and dealt with fever all night! Monday morning, I got Stetson ready for school, planning to take Jackson to work with me have his ears rechecked just incase I overlooked something...WELL... we get there at 8:00..temp is still over 103 WITH Tylenol AND Motrin... ear's are fine.. throat is fine...however, he hears NO air exchange on the left side so we head on over to Mizell to have a chest x-ray and blood work, repeat flu and strep test and an RSV test... we get back to the clinic and I am greeted with "He has pneumonia on the left side, I'm admitting him!" WONDERFUL! We get our admit papers and I head to Elba to get some clothes together for us and lay out school clothes for the next few days for Stetson so his daddy wouldn't have to worry about it. WE get to Andalusia and get checked in and we were there until about 9:30 last night. Needless to say, I am exhausted! Thankfully, Jackson is MUCH better! My mother-in-law took off work today and he stayed with her so he wouldn't have to go to daycare (and I could go back to work) and he'll be hanging out with Stephen tomorrow...

I get home today and Stetson doesn't meet me at the front door. He's sitting on the couch. I go in and steal some love like usual and I can tell something just isn't right. I asked him for his backpack and he says its in the car..I send him to go get it and he comes back inside and SLAMS the front door. I ask him what all that is about as he brings me his backpack and he breaks down.. I mean, the flood gates opened and the waters flowed! "I got a red dot".. excuse me? He repeated, "I got a red dot today"... I opened his folder to find a red dot, followed by an explanation! I was FLOORED!!! Stetson has always been the child who you could look at the wrong way and he would break down...and he comes home with a RED DOT.. he gave me his version.. I gave him the version I had written down.. he changed his story to match that one some and then came the bad part... the consequences... :( His DS is up until his teacher tells me his behavior has changed...no TV...no computer...and he got a spanking... I never really understood the whole "this hurts me more than it hurts you" when I was growing up until I had kids and had to discipline them! It breaks my heart BUT he knows I will NOT tolerate bad behavior or talking back...and I think we re-established that tonight! It really breaks my heart! I'm not saying he is perfect, I'm not one of those kind of moms who never thinks her kids do wrong.. I will be the first to admit when they have messed up.. but I KNOW Stetson is a good child and he knows right from wrong and how he is supposed to act and behave and I think thats what bothers me the most! I don't want people to think that I haven't instilled those things into him... I did have to get up and walk out at one point because I was trying to be sooo serious. He looked at me with tears in his eyes, running out from under his glasses and said "it's not about the dot momma..it's not about the dot...it's about going to school, learning and having fun..it's not about the dot." *sigh* I love that kid!

On another note, I do want to ask those of you that may read this to be much in prayer over a situation. The guy (Nick) that I was dating before Stephen & I started dating found out this week that his 3 yr old daughter, Allie, has Leukemia. She is at Children's and they have already started her on chemo. Please lift them up in prayer! I found out from Nick's mom on Monday night while I was at the hospital with Jackson. As I was sitting there praying and talking to God, asking him to wrap his arms around Nick and Amanda and the rest of their families, this verse came so heavily on my heart... I knew God was speaking this to me to share with Amanda...

Isaiah 41:10 (New International Version)
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

How awesome is our God! ~Heather
